I attended the
Fashion 2.0 event "Smart Data and Market Intelligence" at the
Scandanavia House, where a panel examined big data and its role in fashion. A lively discussion was followed by a lovely rooftop reception!
One of the themes that emerged was that big data won't help anything unless it is smart! But according to Igor Elbert from
Gilt,
once you are able to slice into exactly what you need, even a large
amount of data turns into a small amount and can become quite specific
and useful. The most interesting concept of the evening was
WGSN INstock,
presented by Loree Lash, which is a trend service that shows retail
analytics in real time to help with merchandising and buying decisions.
